The work consisted of repairs to Pier 5000′s concrete deck to include delaminations, cracks, pile spalls, and exposed and corroded rebar located on the pier’s deck which was repaired by demolishing and removing all unsound and loose material and replacing it with new concrete. The existing deteriorated overlay was repaired through replacement with cast in place concrete. Exposed reinforcing steel was sand blasted, treated with a corrosion inhibitor, and then coated with polymer-modified Portland cement mortar. Replacement of the existing electrical conduits and other incidental work was also completed.
