ABC names Napa's Nova Group 'Contractor of The Year'

Associated Builders and Contractors have presented its "Contractor of the Year Award" to Napa-based general engineering contractor Nova Group, Inc.,which specializes in hydrant fueling, waterfront and utility construction.

Cofounded in 1976 by president Ron Fedrick, Nova Group began its history by building steam lines at the decommissioned Mare Island Naval Shipyard in Vallejo.

Today, the company employs more than 200 construction professionals worldwide, and has annual revenue about $100 million.

"It is a tremendous honor to present the 2007 'Contractor of the Year Award' to Nova Group," said Kirk Pickerel, ABC president and CEO.

"Throughout its history, Nova Group has remained steadfast in its commitment to building a culture that seeks to provide the industry's highest quality and safest projects. Their unwavering dedication to excellence truly embodies the spirit of the merit shop philosophy."

Nova Group is a repeat winner of ABC's "National Safety Excellence Award" for 250,000 to 500,000 worker hours, and last year received ABC's "Safety Training and Evaluation Process Platinum Award," the association's highest safety honor.

Associated Builders and Contractors is a national association representing nearly 25,000 merit shop construction and construction-related firms in 78 chapters across the United States.
